Plate
heat exchangers are used through out the worlds industries for the
efficient heat transfer between both liquids and gases.
Their compact size and high efficiency makes them ideal for
installations where space is limited. The other main advantage of the
plate heat exchanger is its flexibility. By varying the number of
plates, their type and the number of flow paths, a plate heat exchanger
can be tailor made for each particular application in terms of power,
rating, operating temperature and pressure drop.

When you compare the
size and thermal efficiency of conventional shell and tube heat
exchangers too a plate heat exchangers there is only one winner the Plate
Heat Exchanger. At almost 90% smaller in size than the equivalent shell
and tube unit, the Plate Heat Exchanger is more efficient size for size and
changes in thermal load can be easily accommodated by simply adding or
removing plates, this cannot be said for the shell and tube units.
