Brazed Heat Exchangers

Brazed
Plate Heat Exchangers work on the same principle as conventional plate
heat exchangers, but consists of a pack of corrugated plates joined
together and sealed by vacuum furnace brazing. Typically the units are
copper brazed, however for those applications where the medium is
aggressive to copper or where temperatures range from 225°C to 400°C,
then nickel is used. The plates are manufactured as standard from
high-grade AISI 316 acid resistant steel with a thickness of either
0.35mm or 0.4mm dependent on the model type. A specially designed
chevron pattern causes a turbulent flow of the fluid resulting in
higher heat transfer and a reduction in heat exchanger fowling.

TYPICAL APPLICATIONS
Brazed
plate heat exchangers are designed for a wide range of applications
within the process, marine and industrial cooling applications such as,
beverage coolers, co-generation systems, de-ionized water systems,
hydraulic oil coolers, lube oil coolers and onboard coolers and heaters.
This type of heat exchanger is also widely used for refrigeration
applications such as evaporators, condensers and sub-coolers.
ADVANTAGES OF THE BRAZED HEAT
EXCHANGER
Compact:
Due to the high efficiency of the brazed plate heat exchangers, these
heat exchangers are often 25% the size of a conventional shell & tube
heat exchangers. The smaller footprint also makes it easier to be
installed on skid systems and portable equipment packages.
High
Efficiency:
Due to the turbulent flow of the fluid in the channels, the heat transfer
coefficients of brazed plate heat exchangers are 3-5 times higher than
that of a conventional Shell & Tube heat exchanger for a similar
application.
Low-Maintenance:
The 316SS construction of brazed plate heat exchangers provides superior
corrosion resistance, and fouling is virtually eliminated by the
self-cleaning effect generated through high- induced turbulence.
Rugged
Construction:
The brazed plate heat exchanger is brazed using 99.9% copper. The copper
provides a strong bond when heated in a special vacuum furnace, keeping
the plates bonded together. The heat exchangers have a high
pressure-temperature rating
Cost
Effective:
Very low investment and quick pay pack period.
